FIELDWORK
I started FieldWork because I kept meeting people whose work deserved more than a caption. A quarterly newspaper, designed to be kept — the kind of editorial attention that asks something of the reader and gives something back.
"Any sense of the extraordinary is grounded first of all in ordinary experience."— Richard Quinney, For the Time Being: Ethnography of Everyday Life
This is what I do between assignments and sometimes instead of them: find people worth spending time with and build the conditions for their stories to be told properly. FieldWork is that practice made visible.
— Hands Touching Earth — is out May 15.
It coincides with the opening of the FieldWork Trading Post at Cornwall Market in Cornwall Bridge, CT. If you'd like to carry FieldWork, sponsor it, or build something with it, there's a path for that.
The first post on what this issue is about, and why it had to start where it did, is up on Substack.
